The Fair Payment Code
Learn about the Fair Payment Code and what it means when a business is a signatory.
The Fair Payment Code
What is it?
The Fair Payment Code is a voluntary code administered by the Office of the Small Business Commissioner. Businesses that sign up commit to paying their suppliers promptly and fairly.
The tiers
- Gold: 95% of invoices paid within agreed terms
- Silver: 60% of invoices paid within agreed terms
- Bronze: 30% of invoices paid within agreed terms
What does it mean for suppliers?
When a client is an FPC signatory, they have made a public commitment to fair payment practices. This is a positive signal, though it's not a guarantee of payment.
How to verify
You can check if a company is an FPC signatory on the Small Business Commissioner website.
